I spotted 4 dolphins from the beach in Kill Devil Hills last weekend. No matter how many times I see those happy little creatures swim by I am always amazed. I never expect to see dolphins. I am always doing something else at the beach when I look up and spot the happy, half circle "dolphin drive by."
It's one of the surprise pleasures of an Outer Banks vacation, and it happens more than you think as the costal bottlenose dolphins frequent our ocean and sound waters. There is even a dolphin research center on the Outer Banks.

You know, I have this weird theory that dolphins may be smarter than us.Let's look at the facts: Dolphins can communicate without the internet, while we are tied to our phones and email. When it gets cold, dolphins simply swim to warmer waters, while we have to run to out heated house. Also, I'm pretty sure that dolphins don't suffer from heart disease because of overeating the wrong food. Plus they always seem happy, while we are always chasing happiness. I wonder if they laugh at us from afar. I wonder.
