Demos and Dock Chats: There are demonstrations and informational chats for every member of the family...young or older.  Among them are techniques in net fishing,  and net hanging and a fascinating look at the life cycle of a blue crab.  Commercial and charter boat captains are scattered along the docks showing their boats and demonstrating their equipment, and fishing techniques.

Children's Activities: Children delight in the activities that are available for them.  Events such as the Crab Races, Coast Guard Boat tours, and the Fishing contest joined with activities like making a Day at the Docks Fish-print t-shirt ensure that there is never a dull moment.

Seafood Throw Down: Seafood is the reason we are here.  Our water men harvest an enormous variety of seafood from the Atlantic Ocean and the Pamlico Sound.  Some stays here and you will find it in our seafood markets and restaurants but much makes its way to big wholesale fish markets in major cities from where is bought and shipped around the country and the world.

Exhibitors and Vendors: From local educational programming at various levels and topics to advocating for clean water and boating safety, to addressing skin cancer concerns and making relevant literature available to the reading public, their services are invaluable. They all welcome the opportunity to talk about the work they perform and the successes they have had in support of fishing and seafood.

Community Space: Starting in 2014, we expanded our program to include representatives from local Community Organizations.  This gives visitors an even broader understanding of the people who live and work here in Hatteras Village and the Island as a whole.

Blessing of the Fleet: The annual boat parade and "Blessing of the Fleet" begin at 6:00 p.m. in the village harbor.
