What is Seaside Cares?

Seaside Cares Logo

Our Mission Statement: Seaside Cares is a charitable giving campaign of Seaside Vacations and Coldwell Banker Seaside Realty that contributes to the enrichment of the Outer Banks and other areas in the fields of community, relief, environment, and veterans.

In 2013, Seaside Vacations and Coldwell Banker Seaside Realty implemented 'Seaside Cares' as our official charitable giving campaign. Through the Seaside Cares Charitable Giving Campaign, our mission is to give back to the local community by providing charitable contributions and volunteer support, thus strengthening and reinforcing our commitment to creating lasting changes in our community.

We believe that the quality of life found on the Outer Banks and in northeastern North Carolina depends on the generous support of those who live, work, and vacation here. We contribute our time, talents and resources to help ensure a brighter future for all who call this area home.

The campaign was designed to support four specific areas: Community, Food, Environment and Veterans.

Community: Success & Happiness for Youth and Seniors

Through multiple initiatives, we aim to improve the well-being of our community by supporting our youth and senior residents. One example is the Seaside Cares scholarship at First Flight High School for graduating seniors. Another is the collection and supply of much needed items for our seniors in assisted living facilities and those identified in our community.

Relief: Reducing Hunger For Food Insecure Families

By partnering with the Outer Banks Beach Food Pantry, we are working to reduce hunger in our community. We include donation bags with each welcome bag we give to our guests, all year long. These bags are labeled to encourage guests to donate leftover unopened, non-perishable food. In 2021 we donated over 1,300 lbs of food from this initiative alone - and we are not slowing down! We also host food drives multiple times a year to collect donations from our staff and the community.

Environment: Protecting our Precious Outer Banks Home

Seaside Cares supports the Corolla Wild Horse Fund to ensure these majestic creatures remain protected and roam free
for locals and visitors to witness. We also support N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles), a hard-working nonprofit organization ensuring the preservation and protection of the local sea turtle population. We will also be hosting local beach cleanups and other volunteer initiatives to help protect our fragile environment.

Veterans: Keeping Our Honorable Veterans in Mind

Seaside Cares proudly supports the Outer Banks chapter of the VFW. We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices made by our veterans and work to ensure they have everything they need for a comfortable life after service on the Outer Banks.

2024 Seaside Cares Recap

We once again celebrated our Annual Holiday Drive Trifecta, supporting those in need on the Outer Banks through three local donation initiatives. This year, we collected non-perishable food items for both The Beach Food Pantry and Cape Hatteras Food Pantry, new unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, and essentials like socks, blankets, hoodies, and toiletries for our local seniors at Peak Resources Outer Banks and Spring Arbor Outer Banks.

Seaside Cares donations from guests raised nearly $10,000. And together, we were able to provide donations to N.E.S.T., Dare Education Foundation, Outer Banks Room at the Inn, and Outer Banks Hotline. We also were able to become a Community Cares Partner with the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. See the press release here for more information about our partnership with the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. Visit this year's 2024 Seaside Cares Year in Review to find out more about our amazing local vendors who donated and find out how you can help us continue to make a difference in our community.

2023 Seaside Cares Recap

This year, we had our First Annual Holiday Drive Trifecta! And with your help, we were able to make an incredible impact on our local community this holiday season. Thanks to the generosity of our local community, we were able to fill 3 boxes of toys for the Northeastern North Carolina Toys for Tots, collect 161 pounds of food for the Beach Food Pantry and Cape Hatteras Food Pantry, and provide multiple donations of blankets, toiletries, and snacks for our seniors at Peak Resources Outer Banks and Spring Arbor Outer Banks. We're excited about the difference we were able to make this year with the help of our amazing guests, owners, and local supporters and are looking forward to what we can do again in the years to come!
