Lucky 12 Tavern’s Blackened Tuna Bites
If you're looking to add a little extra OBX protein to your upcoming holiday menus, why not try your hand at Lucky 12 Tavern's Blackened Tuna Bites? The only thing that can make this better is enjoying it on the deck of a beautiful Outer Banks vacation rental while you celebrate the holidays on the OBX. If you're unable to get down to the beach for your next holiday break, impress your whole family with this delicious, OBX-inspired treat.
Blackening Spice Ingredients:
(mix all together and store in an air-tight container)
7 oz Kosher Salt
12 oz Paprika
5 tbsp Dried Thyme leaves
5 tbsp Ground Black pepper
5 tbsp Granulated Garlic
2 1/2 tbsp Cayenne Pepper
2 1/2 tbsp White Pepper
5 tbsp Crushed Chile Flakes
7 1/2 tbsp Chili Pepper
Green Onion Crema Ingredients:
6 Green Onions
1/8 Cup Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Cup Sour Cream
1/2 Tsp Kosher Salt
1/2 Tsp Fresh Ground Pepper
Directions:
1. Rub Onions with Olive oil, sprinkle with Kosher Salt and Pepper and Grill. Do Not Burn.
2. Allow to cool then dice.
3. Place Onions and rest of ingredients in food proccesser and puree til smooth. Allow to cool in refrigerator.
4. Cut a Tuna loin of your choosing into 1-inch cubes, cover with blackening spice, then grill on a flap top.
5. Serve with chilled Green onion Crema.
